June 2008
Hey, I'm now a contributor to a neat new online magazine/blog called When Falls the Coliseum .

May 2008
On the second-to-last day in May a big box of little poetry books was delivered to my door. When the delivery guy passed it off to me I fell backward into my apartment, it was so heavy. These books are copies of Obsolete, my first collection of poetry. You can read all about it and order a copy of it here, if you want. My friend Noah Beytin designed and typeset the book and Taylor Ball of Parcell Press published it. A lot of work went into this book, and this is a happy day here at La-La HQ, let me tell you.

Also, I have an article up on etsy, the fabulous fun gigantic site where craftspeople open their own little shops to sell their wares, about zines.

April 2008
This month I had the honor of visiting a residential house at Bryn Mawr College and talking to the girls who live there about zines. They're starting their own zine library and one of the zines I brought for them got borrowed out on the spot—the library's first official transaction! I had a blast and I hope they did too. They served me a delicious vegan meal and I saw deer in their backyard.

And did I tell you that not too long ago I also guest lectured a class in Second Life? As in, I, as my silly looking cybergoth avatar, entered the 3D multi-user environment that is Second Life and addressed a college English class about digital literature. It was neat; a couple of the students seemed very interested and we had a lively conversation. And then I flew away.

March 2008
I have a quirky how-to piece on making found poetry in the delightful and super-stylish craft magazine Snippets, in which I boldly assert that making found poems is like a kind of craft. It is, I swear.

I wrote a piece on digital literature and the new literacy for the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

Otherwise still writing poems, still writing poems. I'm working hard on finishing this collection, which I'm finding is something like those pesky 5 pounds people talk about not being able to lose. As I write new things I scrap others, and every time I do the tally I find there's a few more I have to write. But I'm happy with the ones that are finished, and this project is shaping up to be something I'm very excited about. So ... more on that very soon.

February 2008
I wrote an essay about how excellent and important zines are for a book called The Alternative Media Handbook. It's out in print now on the UK's excellent academic publisher, Routledge.

January 2008
Happy new year, dudes. Not a lot to report. I'm just working and doing a lot of reading. I started a reading log for 2008! Other than that, I have been writing about graphic novels for the Santa Barbara News-Press, which is a lot of fun. I'm also finishing up work on a big poetry project that has been a long time in the making. I hope it will be finished for real very soon, and then I will tell you all about it. <3
