In this three-hour workshop at The Soapbox Community Print Shop and Zine Library we will talk about the history and culture of zine making and punk community before diving in and making our own zines. Before beginning we’ll look at a wide variety of handmade publications from The Soapbox's library for inspiration, then warm up with writing exercises and creative brainstorming. You will learn at least one simple but clever paper-folding technique to use that day and in your future zine publishing endeavors. All materials—glue sticks, stencils, clip art, colored pencils, glitter, and more—will be provided.

The Soapbox is located at 4700 Kingsessing Ave. in West Philadelphia. The workshop costs $35, $30 for members. There are many benefits to membership so be sure to check the organization out!
