Happy new year, dudes. I'm getting ready to send out a paper newsletter/catalog for the distro. Wanna be on the mailing list? Email me: katie at thelalatheory dot com.

The distro will be tabling at the Boston Zine Fair at the Art Institute of Boston this weekend, Sept. 20-21. Come say hi and buy some books!

Hello all! It's been a while since I've posted, but I've been collecting new zines for the distro, so that's cool. I've been having an okay summer so far, have you? If you've been here before you'll have noticed that I changed the name of the distro to One-Room Schoolhouse. No big deal. I just like that name. If you're new here, welcome! Have a look around and order some zines. Oh and incidentally the NJ Zine Fest in April was a hit. I met some fun people and sold a bunch of zines and books.

I don't know all the details yet but the distro will be tabling at the New Jersey Zine Fest on Sunday, April 13. Can't wait! You all should come!

I know it seems like I've been gone a while, but it's just that it was stupid Christmas and in the new year I've been busy. But part of that busyness, my dear and beloved distro friends, was the work I do here at La-La HQ. Now I would like to announce a new newsletter, printed on real paper and sent through the real mail, that will provide distro updates, interviews with people whose stuff I distro, and crackpot literary moments.

Hello, friends. Another year is coming to an end and all I have to show for it is a new crush on an artist I don't know. But actually I have some news in the form of three additions to the catalog: issues # 159 and #160 of the Lilliput Review and an unusual, witty chapbook by a poet/musician called Did You Know That You Could Heal Yourself? One of my New Year's resolutions is to attend a number of zine and book fairs in different cities, selling my wares; if you know of a good one, email me!

Look, The La-La Theory got a nice mention on the terrific indie poetry resource the DIY Poetry Publishing Cooperative.
November 19
I just added an interview with, and poem by, the excellent Laura-Marie Taylor of Erik and Laura-Marie Magazine. Go have a look.
October 25
Just added three new zines to the catalog: a gritty fiction collection called dorothea, a 24-hour fiction zine by the author of Imperfect, and a nifty, teensy poetry chapbook bound with a beer bottle cap. It's called Sixpack.
October 8
The Fest was a success! I met some lovely people and gave sweaty hugs to people I already know and <3. (It was hot in there.) Mary Tasillo, a paper- and bookmaker who I met at last year’s Fest and spoke to again on Sunday, wrote a nice editorial about zines for the Philadelphia Inquirer. I also acquired some exciting new poetry and fiction zines that I’ll be adding to the catalog soon, so keep checking in.

The La-La Theory will be tabling at the Philadelphia Zine Fest on Saturday, October 7. Stop by and say hello!

Oh, excitement. I’m in the process of adding several new titles to the poetry catalog from the Australian zine and chapbook publisher Loveanarchist Press. Go and have a look; they’re the ones by Jo and Shelley.

Just added the two new issues of Lilliput Review and a beautiful tanka sequence published as a chapbook by Lillie's editor.

The La-La Theory is thrilled to announce its first young adult fiction zine! “Tanali and the Silver Scissors” is the charming, insightful, and funny story of a little witch in training. Check it out.

Here’s a treat. Just got copies of Erik and Laura-Marie Magazine No. 41, featuring some breath-takers by the lovely and talented poet Laura-Marie. I mean it, she’s all three—lovely, talented, and a real poet.
June 21
New to the catalog: Issues #155 and #156 of the lilliputian literary journal the Lilliput Review. See the poetry page for details on this terrific, unique publication.

I just added two adorable illustrated haiku zines by Missy Kulik to the poetry page. Check them out.

Just placed an order to carry a wonderfully unique little journal called Lilliput Review, which is sized 3.5 x 4.25" and features only poems of 10 lines or less. Two issues of Lillie come out at once every 3 or 4 months, and soon I'll be carrying the current two issues. Check back for it within the week.
June 6
New to the catalog: smelling trees, a fiction collection by Sinoun, Erik and Laura-Marie Magazine No. 40 featuring poetry by Laura-Marie, and glory-of-the-snow number eight featuring poetry by Heather.

Hey, this is exciting! A compilation zine I edited called The New Confessionals got a nice write-up in “From the Stacks,” the Utne Reader's weekly highlight of the best of the indie press. Please consider buying a copy from me for $3 a copy. All sales go to a good nonprofit that provides housing and other services to kids. The group does good work and I hope to get them some $$.
Now what are you waiting for? Have a look around at the poetry and fiction publications we have in stock. Click the buttons to the left to browse them or to learn how to submit your own.

Since my initial idea to start this dear distro during the first frigid days of 2007, things have really started to shape up. I've got zines coming in from two very talented writers in Australia, a personal zine brimming with fine poems, a wonderful literary collection by writer and filmmaker Alan Lastufka, a zine filled with incredible experimental fiction, and lots more. It's all coming together and I couldn't be more excited.
